Dear SEDC Partner/Member,
As in previous years, the 2017 SelectUSA Investment Summit will be welcoming over 2,000 participants – including government leaders, business visionaries, investors from more than 60 countries, economic development organizations from every corner of the nation, and influential media. These decision-makers are drawn to this annual event as a prime opportunity to gain insight into the latest policy and investment trends, make connections, and initiate meaningful business deals.
The Summit is also a great forum to explore new areas of thought leadership. To that end, building on the successful Infrastructure Roundtable at last year’s Summit, SelectUSA is hosting an invite-only 2017 Infrastructure Symposium during this year’s Summit on June 19, 2017.
The goal of the Symposium is to provide a forum for top infrastructure industry leaders to meet with EDOs and discuss the challenges and opportunities ahead. We have been working closely with key partners that include the Department of Transportation and the National Governors Association to bring in renowned industry experts to examine the intersection of infrastructure and economic development. Proposed topics include new technologies that are redefining traditional infrastructure projects, the value of public-private-partnerships in developing, attracting, and financing projects, and overall best practices.
The interactive format of the event will promote frank discussions around missed opportunities directly related to infrastructure development impediments, while also exploring new ideas and potential solutions. Recognizing that your role as both a community representative and economic development expert is critical to the Symposium’s success, we have developed a brief survey to collect your valuable input.
The survey should take no more than ten minutes to complete. In particular, we would like to understand the specific infrastructure development needed to help your region remain competitive in attracting investment.Your feedback will help us structure the Symposium to be most responsive to your needs, and we thank you in advance for your time.
We ask that you complete the surveyby March 24th. We also welcome any questions or suggestions; please feel free to e-mail Caroline Strand at Caroline.Strand@trade.gov.
